Each towel is 100% cotton, woven for a soft, sturdy hand, with hemmed edges and a small hanging loop. The artwork is printed edge to edge, so there are no plain borders.

It's on purpose. One towel carries the full scene, the painting as a whole picture. Its partner carries a coordinating smaller-scale repeat in the same colours. Hang the showpiece on the oven door and keep the busier-working repeat for the everyday drying, or display both together; they always look like they belong.

Both. They're made for real kitchen work: absorbent and lint-light, so they suit glasses and dishes as well as hands. Like most new cotton, they drink up more water after the first wash or two.

Yes, please. A first wash removes finishing residue from the weaving and printing process and noticeably boosts absorbency. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, then tumble dry low or hang them on the line.

The print is made to handle regular washing. As with any printed cotton, colours may soften slightly over many washes, which many people find gives the towels a lovely lived-in look. Washing cold and skipping bleach keeps them brighter for longer.

Yes. A warm iron smooths them out beautifully, and it's a nice finishing touch if you plan to display a towel or give it as a present.

No. Every design in our Folk & Tile collection is a printed pattern on flat cotton. They're inspired by painted tiles, stencils and paper-cuts, but there's no stitching, embroidery or ceramic involved.
